Almost Blue - Oona Doherty and Irish Modern Dance Theatre
Almost Blue is a goodbye dance, a farewell. An attempt to move what has come before and expand through chaos back to the gentle hum that came before the beginning. It is a waltz of the inner solar system.
Almost Blue was co-commissioned by Irish Modern Dance Theatre and Cork Midsummer Festival. Oona Doherty created Almost Blue for Steve Batts of Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company and is accompanied by live trumpeter John Walsh.

Nascanna - Liam O'Scanláin
Touching on senses of identity and place, and how those who’ve gone before us can make us who we are today, Nascanna delves into the relationships and connections in traditional dance and music, exploring the interplay of who is in control and who determines the course of the conversation.
In this duet, sean nós dancer Liam Ó Scanláin and fiddler David Doocey, play with the rules of tradition, teasing out the connections between traditional music and dance, as well as the people who transmit this shared heritage.
Choreographed and performed by Liam Ó Scanláin
Music by David Doocey
Created with help and support from Dance Ireland.

CUCK - Off the Rails Dance #OTR
CUCK is an entertaining, intimate and intensely raw dance piece about power, relationships and crossed boundaries. It explores the human condition at its most fragile. On the back of #metoo and in a society where abuses of power are coming to the fore, this multi-layered work raises questions of the political ego and the erosion of basic human decency. In the current political climate with the threat of closed borders and increasing tensions surrounding Brexit and the ongoing lack of government in Northern Ireland, CUCK is even more current than when it was created in 2017. CUCK was created as part of Tinderbox’s Ignition: a-show-in-a-week. Award-winning writer Abbie Spallen provided the provocation ‘CUCK’ on Monday morning.
Choreographer: Eileen McClory
Dramaturg: Hanna Slattne
Dancers: Ryan O’Neill and Vasiliki Stanasiki
Music Credits: Moby, Bonnie Tyler
CUCK was created by Tinderbox: Ignition programme in 2017. Funded by Arts Council Northern Ireland.
