This movement introduction to Material Movement Practice sessions is for beginners or newcomers to natural movement looking for a more dynamic and mindful approach to health. In these sessions, we find balance by developing our physical strength skills through the creative power of play, interaction, and flow connections across indoor and outdoor sessions.
M_M_P Sessions combine elements of
• breathwork
• ground-based moves
• balance and locomotion forms
• lifting/carrying objects (ball, stick, stone)
• working with materials (clay, rope)
• play interactions combining strength, coordination, and flow explorations.
Indoor practice will lead to a more confident outdoor practice experience including wild walking, barefoot connection, and grounding in a local forest, beach, or park location. So if, possible attend at least one indoor class if interested in attending the outdoor session in August and get the meeting point and preparation information. (What's app/DM/email for queries on the outdoor session.)
The movements explored will combine practical, purposeful, and poetic ranges of motion, to expand how we sense and move our bodies and how we relate to each other; both in response to dynamic changes around us and in the practice of stillness of being in the moment.
Every session is structured with progressions and regressions and always begins with mobility preparation and focussed sequences required for a solid physical foundation and safe practice.
Gail will introduce concepts of movement ecology, ecosomatics, and biotensegrity derived from her movement research. By using clear visualisation and tactile cues to guide self-awareness that will enhance your movement sensitivity, expand your mobility vocabulary and tune your senses towards nature inside us all.
