Hello. My name is Tina McCauley and I am a local dancer, dance teacher and choreographer.

I am working on a new project funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland National Lottery Fund, called “What’s It All About?” and I am looking for participants.  

I'm seeking volunteers from all walks of life, men and women, who are interested in being part of the process of creating an innovative performance of physical theatre. While this is a contemporary dance piece, there is no "dancing” required and no experience required, just the enthusiasm to be involved in discussing ideas and creating a piece of contemporary art.

"What’s It All About?” is a cross-discipline collaboration between myself and Sally Boon Matthews, a British multi-media artist from New York. The plan is to create a live public performance of physical theatre at a city venue (hopefully, the new train station) which will be filmed and turned into a two channel video installation to be exhibited at Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company. Kelly Quigley from Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company will also be working with us.

The symposium will include discussing and physically exploring ideas of how we can use movement to create disruption, distraction and obstructions that are both intentional and unintentional. We will explore the fact of various ongoing obstacles faced by women as they navigate through their lives and demonstrate how they can help each other to move forward. Three women (two other dancers with myself)) will perform movements culled from shared experiences and actively assist each other to move forward whilst encountering disruptive forces from people in their lives (volunteers of men, women and children) who will enter the scene and intersect and obstruct us.

Parts of the initial workshop will be filmed and participants asked to share their own thoughts if they wish.
