Marbleface by Yasmin Mello
Marbleface is a dark, dreamy and magical dance theatre piece which explores themes of isolation, immigration and ostracization. The piece plays with aspects of occult and supernatural horror as an outlet to explore deep and overwhelming emotions of Annika, the fictional protagonist.
This is a live performance that integrates film projection, emotional drama and visceral movement to tell the tragic tale of an exiled witch culminating in an anthology of poetic movement and text that invites us all to experience the world through Annika’s dark and twisted perspective.

She has a BA in Dance from Angel Vianna Dance College (BR) and an MPhil in Theatre and Performance from Trinity College Dublin (IE) and her main interest is making interdisciplinary work combining dance, theatre and visual arts through intuitive movement. Yasmin has co-written, directed and choreographed the dance theatre piece “Oi!”, which premiered at the Scene+Heard Festival 2019 and was later adapted to a short film with the DanceIreland’s support . Besides that, together with comedy actor and writer Johny Walsh she has developed and facilitated the project “Mobilise” a socially engaged workshop which was awarded the Trinity Equality Fund 2019. Her most recent work is an occult dance-monologue called “Marbleface'' which she directed, performed and produced. “Marbleface” was commissioned by the Imagine Arts Festival 2021 and awarded the first National Dance Residence Partnership. Yasmin was also awarded an in-kind mentorship with Steve Batts by the Echo Echo Dance Company and is deeply interested in continuing to learn about Poetic Movement.
