Festival Workshop Tour 2019
Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company is interested in finding ways to develop engagement with artists in dance, movement and related disciplines, from all parts of Ireland. This is the fourth year that the company is offering a series of workshops outside its home base in Derry in partnership with dance venues and partners around the island.
Experienced dancers and artists in other fields, along with experienced non-professionals, are invited to join a free workshop with Steve Batts, Artistic Director, or Ayesha Mailey, Associate Artistic Director of Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company.
There will be a practical movement session and a short presentation on the work of Echo Echo and the concept of Poetic Movement. The workshop will include an outline of ways to engage with and collaborate with Echo Echo including an introduction to their Artist-in-Residence programme, an explanation of opportunities for proposing work for the annual Echo Echo Festival, and an outline of other possibilities for developing collaboration, performances, research and workshops at Echo Echo Studios in Derry.

Testimonials
My time at the Echo Echo Festival of Dance and Movement has been a most informative one. Having come from Dublin, the dance centre of Ireland, I noted a lower attendance by professionals and dance students to the festival. However, as Northern Ireland’s only specific dance festival, this event is hugely significant for the arts in the North. The persistence and hard work of the Echo Echo team is to be commended and their communication was prompt. Friendly and inclusive, the events attracted all ages and expertise, from young children to professionals all seeking to broaden their movement understanding. While some shows were easily accessible and entertaining, other works supported required a deep investment on behalf of the audience which really pushes the diversity of dance in Northern Ireland - to my surprise. There was a strong community feel within this intimate festival which is a credit to Echo Echo’s practice of inviting others to move and be moved. Festival Bursary recipient 2018
Was very nice to attend Steve Batts’s workshop in Dublin last week, and this support for dancer to attend the Echo Echo Festival is a great initiative. Festival Bursary recipient 2018
The workshop in Belfast was incredible and I really admire your work and your energy! Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity. Festival Bursary recipient 2018
The festival definitely impacted my artistic development, especially the symposium that we had in the Echo Echo studio. Hearing about all the challenges, solutions, and ideas from other artists really helped me feel a bit validated and was really important for my growth as an artist. It was inspiring to listen to people talk about following their passion for making art, and how difficult it can be. Festival Bursary recipient 2018
