Echo Winter International
The first International Visual Art exhibition to be hosted by Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company with responses from over 45 artists from countries including India, France, Germany, USA, UK and Ireland. The exhibition has been curated by Donegal based Artist and Echo Echo Associate Artist Sinéad Smyth.
Artists were asked to create work which connected to the theme by considering this short paragraph:
"What does Echo mean to you? Is an Echo all around? The Echo within, in our minds and bodies as we hold ourselves through these days. An Echo from the past, the now, the future... our actions and movements from everyday life echo through space and place, like the words we say as we dance through time. Echoes of people we don't know, walking past in their own realities. The Echo we see when we squint our eyes at people we know and love, here and passed - echoing in our minds as we think about them going through their everyday routines. Our daily lives echoing through the weeks and months, as the years pass in the blink of an eye. What does Echo mean to you?"
Three of the artists who submitted work will be awarded 'Echo Artist Awards' which will be announced at the launch of the exhibition. These will be the 'Echo Visual Award' - a solo exhibition in 2023, an Artist Development Award, and the 'McKenna Arts Award' towards artists materials.
This is a great opportunity for those who would like to support artists during these difficult times and purchase unframed artwork at very affordable prices as gifts for family and friends this Christmas.
