Poetic Movement and the practice of Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company

Workshop Invitation

Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company is interested in finding ways to develop engagement with artists in dance, movement and related disciplines, from all parts of Ireland. With this in mind we are offering a series of workshops outside our home base in Derry.

Experienced dancers and artists in other fields are invited to join a free workshop with Steve Batts Artistic Director Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company and Ayesha Mailey Associate Artistic Director Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company.

There will be a practical movement session and a short presentation on the work of Echo Echo and the concept of Poetic Movement.  The workshop will include an outline of ways to engage with and collaborate with Echo Echo including an introduction to their Artist-in-Residence programme, an explanation of opportunities for proposing work for the annual Echo Echo Festival, and an outline of other possibilities for developing collaboration, performances, research and workshops at Echo Echo Studios.

To book a place please contact Echo Echo at contact details below or simply come along on the day.

Echo Echo Festival Bursaries (2016)

Workshop participants will have the opportunity to apply for one of a number of bursaries Echo Echo is offering to attend Conversations on Moving and Being Moved, a symposium during the Echo Echo Festival of Dance and Movement 2016. The simple application process will be described at the workshop, closing date is Monday 24th October at 12 noon, and decisions will be communicated shortly afterwards.

The amount of the bursary is up to €100 towards travel and accommodation expenses. Attendance at the Festival Symposium in Derry on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th November is free to all.  The bursary will also include free entrance to a performance of Tipping Point by Ockham’s Razor, free viewing of Liquid Gold Is The Air by Rosemary Lee, and attendance at the end-of-festival party with soul-funk band Velvet Alibi.

Echo Echo Festival runs from 10th – 26th November and includes a packed programme of performances and workshops. Full Festival programme and brochure available early October on www.echoechodance.com. If successful applicants for a bursary wish to attend the festival earlier we may be able to help with finding cheap accommodation.
