Classes are open to everyone over 14 years of age. Each artist will introduce some of the ways they work with dance and movement. The workshops are for anyone interested in looking at Irish dance in a different way and finding new connections to the old. All are welcome, and do stay for a cup of tea and a chat afterwards!

Saturday 23rd September | 10am - 11.30am | Jonathan Kelliher

North Kerry "Munnix" Style Traditional Dance Classes - Join Jonathan to learn the very unique and beautiful North Kerry “Munnix” style traditional Irish dance. This style dates to the early 1700s and was handed down through the generations by traditional dance masters. 

Saturday 23rd September | 2.30pm - 4pm | Sarah Fennell

Moving Through - Sarah will work with imagery, improvisation and an experiential movement exercise. Suitable for all levels of movement ability.

Sunday 24th September | 10am - 11.30am | Edwina Guckian

Dancing the Tune - A Sean Nós dancing workshop with dancer Edwina Guckian and musician Caitlín Nic Gabhann. This workshop will focus on responding to the music and musician as well as dancing the tune while developing personal style and character with percussive rhythms. 

Sunday 24th September | 2pm-3.30pm | Mary McGuiggan

The Slip Jig - Mary is well known for dancing a graceful slip jig...a dance traditionally performed by women only. Reflecting on tradition,Mary explores why this might have been,could the dance change to encourage men to dance it ? Exploring this theme, Mary will teach a few steps of a variety of slip jigs styles.

Open to all levels of experience. Age 14+ years.

All workshops take place at Echo Echo Studios, Magazine Street.
