'Dancing Together': An 8-week introductory dance course for adults

Starting Wednesday 14th April 2010

8pm- 9.30pm

There is an exciting opportunity for participants this term with five taught classes and tickets for three performance nights including Echo Echo's Interactions, Ripple Affect and a studio double bill with Casebolt and Smith and Legitimate Bodies.

When do we still dance together?

At a wedding? Occasionally at a concert or a disco?

Most of the time we might like to get up and dance but what if...?

What if I make a fool of myself? What if I have two left feet? What if the music changes and I can't dance to it? Will others watch me and see how insecure I feel? Do I need another drink before I go out there?

These are common doubts from people who would love to dance to music but feel some sort of barrier. There might be an immediate joy or a natural desire to dance, but also a sense an inhibition because of lack of experience and practice.

This course is a dance class for beginners, to experience, practise and learn to dance. It is for people who feel they want to spend an hour enjoying moving to rhythm and music. You can attend on your own or bring a friend.

Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company will invite different teachers to lead the class over the 8 weeks. Each class is guaranteed to consist of a fun and easy physical warm up followed by learning to move to different rhythms, some with a partner and some in a bigger group.

The classes will be held in the Echo Echo Dance Studio in The Waterside Theatre, Derry-Londonderry.
