Consequences
Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company back home after Consequences tour.
After the months of preparation and the successful November premiere in The Waterside Theatre in Derry, Echo Echo's newest dance production has finished its tour of Ireland.
The international company wowed audiences with its unique and beautiful style of movement having performed in 12 venues in every corner of the country from Belfast to Cork and Limerick to Dublin.
Directed and choreographed by long time friend of Echo Echo, Wolfgang Hoffmann, the cast of Consequences hail from Germany, USA, Switzerland, Israel, England and of course our very own Derry.
Consequences received much publicity before and during the widespread tour, raising the profile of Echo Echo and the thriving dance scene that is present in the North West.
Reviews from the Belfast News Letter and The Irish Times called the show "wonderfully right" and "superbly accomplished".
Audiences around the island gave their own reviews: "I wanted to applaud from start to finish", "A beautiful and inspiring performance - real people, real emotions - very enjoyable!" and "A real eye opener to dance - Brilliant".
Company manager Ailbe Beirne said: "The project has been an amazing experience and a fantastic team effort from everyone involved. We are very grateful for the support of many people over the last two years to make it happen.
"The company's work has been seen widely throughout the country and from the feedback we have received from audience and critics, I am confident the work will be picked up for international festivals and touring next year."
The mix of physical theatre, poetic movement, innovative set design, live music and video projection was a risky but successful combination.
In 2008, Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company hope to take Consequences internationally and continue to represent Derry and Northern Ireland as it's leading contemporary dance company.
Consequences was supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland National Lottery Fund and is a research partner in Ireland's Arts Council Touring Experiment.
Echo Echo gratefully acknowledges support from partner organisations RTÉ Supporting The Arts and The Waterside Theatre.
