Dance Therapy
Entry by Sarah Young, Development Officer
So I thought I should give a quick report on how the Dance Therapy event went on Friday 30th May and Sunday 1st June...
Everyone in Echo Echo was excited to have Fabian back and we all hoped that we would get a good attendance at the event. Thankfully we did, it was a mix of people who work in the therapeutic sector, people who have experienced other forms of therapy, people dealing with mental health issues and those curious to find out more about the concept.
Here is some of the feedback we received from participants:
"I learned the meaning of dance therapy and the ideas behind it at a basic level and that it would be of great benefit to some of the clients I work with. "
"Therapy in dance does not have to have a conclusion or a fixed end result- it can be a gentle discovery in a safe frame."
"The questions at the end let Fabian cover more ground and you got a feel for what he's involved in."
"Everything flowed beautifully. Having someone witness my movements was a powerful experience."
So it seems that all of the participants thoroughly enjoyed learning and experiencing dance therapy. Echo Echo hopes to continue this annual event by bringing Fabian back again next year. If you want to be kept up to date with upcoming events like this one, contact us to be added to the mailing list.
For now, the company is looking forward to Ursula's series on Dance in Education which starts on Friday 13th June, details are on the relevant webpage.
