The open performance platform in the ECHO ECHO Dance Studio
Every first Sunday in the month
Next one is this Sunday, 3rd February
Time 7 to 9 PM
The Sunday Session is a cutting edge, uncensored open space to share new short pieces and improvisations of dance, poetry, performance, singing, voice, music, movement, action theatre, comedy, clowning, or a concoction.
The studio creates an intimate supportive performance space and holds an audience of about 40 people.
The performances last from 1 min to 12 mins maximum.
Admission £3, for performers it is free.
Please contact me for more information or to be put onto the programme this month. People can also turn up on the night (latest 6.45pm) to be registered on the programme.
If you have never been to a Sunday Session but would like to maybe take part in the future just come as an audience member and enjoy the unique and surprising variety of this month's programme.

Echo Echo has been working hard to spread the word about our new programme of classes and it's paid off. So if you haven't signed up for the course that you're interested in, then you'd better move fast!
There are still a limited number of places left on Ursula's Friday morning Meditation and Movement course and on Steve's Monday evening Contact Improvisation course.
However, Ayesha's Dance and Movement for Children classes are filling up at record speed so if your child wants to come along, please phone Echo Echo to book a place before Tuesday.

Winter/Spring Programme
Winter/Spring programme of events for 2008
Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company has had a busy year in 2007. Not only did the ensemble tour internationally, but they also found time to provide an accessible education and outreach programme.
As 2008 loiters at our doorstep, the leading dance company in Northern Ireland shows no sign of slowing down.
Echo Echo is making full use of its own dance studio in the Waterside Theatre as it unleashes its latest programme of classes and workshops for the public.
The Winter/Spring programme sees the continuation of some of the regular and most popular Echo Echo events.
Sunday Session
The Sunday Session will still be held on the first Sunday of every month at 7pm, beginning Sunday 3rd February. This event is a platform for local performers whether it is poetry, theatre, music or dance, to try out new material in an informal and supportive environment.
Daring Feet Youth Dance
Daring Feet Youth Dance group reconvenes on 23rd January at 5.30pm for more weekly classes in performance styles and techniques, aimed at ages 13-20 years. Newcomers are always welcome.

Weekly Classes and workshops
After the response from previous participants, Echo Echo is trying to build on the core practices, which influence the company and its Co-Artistic Directors, Ursula Laeubli and Steve Batts.
Contact Improvisation
Steve is bringing his passion for Contact Improvisation to the public in a weekly course starting fresh on Monday 21st January from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
Interest in Contact Improvisation (C.I) is steadily growing in Ireland and Steve has been involved in the movement form for approximately 25 years. He is extremely passionate about this interactive form of dance, which explores movement through supporting the weight of another person, rolling, falling, suspending and leaning.
The classes will run for 8 weeks at a cost of £5 per class or £40 for the course (£20 concession). Regardless of age, ability or fitness level, this course is suitable for everyone.
Following on from this, Echo Echo will run a weekend workshop in Contact Improvisation in March. This is open for participants of the classes as well as anyone else who would like to learn more about this technique over a two-day intensive process.

Meditation and Movement
Fellow Co-Artistic Director, Ursula Laeubli is continuing with her classes in Meditation and Movement, which proved extremely popular in September.
Participants will enjoy the relaxation of meditation followed by a movement class dedicated to finding a balance of body and mind. After the stress of Christmas and New Year, many of us will need some help with this!
Each individual will find out their body's limitations and learn to accept them as they focus on what their bodies CAN achieve.
The Meditation and Movement classes will begin on Friday 25th January at 9.30am until 12.30pm, again for an 8-week stretch leading up to Easter. Classes cost £6 or buy the full course for £45 (£15 for meditation only).

Dance and Movement for Children
And finally, not forgetting the little ones. Ensemble member Ayesha Mailey will be teaching dance and movement classes for children.
Starting on Tuesday 22nd January for 12 weeks plus a performance in April, the one-hour classes will be held at 4pm for ages 5-7 years and at 5pm for 8-12 year olds.
The kids will enjoy this fun and vibrant class, in which Ayesha will encourage their imaginations and teach them some choreography to use in the performance day towards the end of the course.
Each class costs just £3 or the full course is £40 including the Saturday performance rehearsal and show. Families can avail of special offers when enrolling more than one child.
Echo Echo's events are supported by The Arts Council of Northern Ireland, The National Lottery Fund, Children in Need, Derry City Council and The Waterside Theatre.
