Dance Picnic : An afternoon of dance for all ages
Dance Picnic
Saturday 13th June 2009
1.30pm- 4.30pm
In the Echo Echo Dance Studio
Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company will be running another Dance Picnic on Saturday 13th June at 1.30pm in its dance studio based in the Waterside Theatre.
The previous event was held in May when it continued to attract lots of dance picnickers who all joined in dancing together, including mums, dads, students, friends and neighbours.
Dance Picnic is an indoor event where people are invited to come along, meet, dance and share some food. It is held on a Saturday afternoon and Echo Echo encourages everyone to come along and participate regardless of age, ability or experience level.
The idea stems from the company's busy education programme which regularly sees parents, toddlers, children, young adults, elderly and people with disabilities dancing. Co-Artistic Director, Steve Batts wanted to see these groups come together and enjoy dance and movement as a group.
The next Dance Picnic will be held on Saturday 13th June from 1.30pm to 4.30pm in the Echo Echo Dance Studio. It costs just £3 per person and everyone is asked to bring something to eat for lunch.

New production: Under Current
Under Current is the new dance theatre production from Northern Ireland's leading dance company, Echo Echo, and will be performed at the
Hidden Treasures Children's Festival in Derry at the end of this month and the Pick N Mix festival in Belfast in June.
Under Current will submerge you into a colourful world of fantasy, fairy tales and tongue twisters. It is a place filled with the fantastical and the sometimes absurd where superheroes and blue monsters co-exist and the ever-enthusiastic dancers entertain the audience through playful movement, imagination and illusion.
It promises to be a lively and fun dance theatre piece for all the family- children and adults alike. The original new work is choreographed and directed by professional dance artist, Ayesha Mailey and is performed by an ensemble of 5 dancers.
Ayesha says, "The performance will be comical and inventive with a very energetic ensemble willing to break the rules and reveal all their dancing secrets."
Echo Echo recently finished touring Ireland with production, Ripple Affect, to their biggest audiences yet and to critical acclaim. The company hopes to continue its success with Under Current.
The first performance is on Saturday 30th May at 2pm in The Waterside Theatre, Derry as part of the Hidden Treasures Children's Festival. Contact the box office on 028 7131 4000.
Under Current will also be performed on Saturday 20th June at the Pick N Mix festival in Old Museum Arts Centre, Belfast at 12pm. Contact the box office on 028 9023 3332. Tickets start at £5.
