March Sunday Session Info
Hoping to continue on from the success of February's Sunday Session, the next event will be held on Sunday 2nd March at 7pm.
Again it will be led by Ursula Laeubli and will feature an eclectic mix of performances from local artists.
The Sunday Session is a cutting edge, uncensored open space to share new short pieces and improvisations of dance, poetry, performance, singing, voice, music, movement, action theatre, comedy, clowning, or a concoction.
The studio creates an intimate supportive performance space and holds an audience of about 40 people.
The performances last from 1 min to 12 mins maximum.
Admission £3, for performers it is free.
Excitingly, this months Sunday Session will round off an eventful weekend of Contact Improvisation in Echo Echo's dance studio. The weekend workshop led by Steve Batts, finishes at 6pm but hopefully some of the participants will stay for the Sunday Session and perhaps even participate.
Please contact Ursula for more information or to be put onto the programme this month. People can also turn up on the night (latest 6.45pm) to be registered on the programme.
If you have never been to a Sunday Session but would like to maybe take part in the future just come as an audience member and enjoy the unique and surprising variety of this month's programme. You can also have a look at Echo Echo's February blog on this website, written by Development Officer, Sarah Young who had her first experience at last month's Sunday Session.

Contact Improvisation weekend workshop with Steve Batts
Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company is holding a weekend workshop
on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd March 2008.
What is Contact Improvisation?
It is an open dance/movement form in which participants explore movement through supporting the weight of another person, rolling, falling, leaning, sliding and suspending. Participants find this movement technique challenging but definitely rewarding as you interact and communicate with others, working in pairs, trios or groups.
It can improve balance and strength and is accessible to all levels and abilities. Contact Improvisation is a versatile movement form in that each individual can get something different out of it. Whether you are athletic and interested in martial arts or sports or perhaps you've never danced before and want to try something new, Contact can be practiced and enjoyed at all levels.
This weekend intensive workshop is taught by Steve Batts, an internationally respected and recognised authority on this ever-growing movement form.
If you are still curious about Contact Improvisation, go to our workshops and classes page and click on Contact Improvisation. There you will find video clips featuring Contact.
