Inter-Session Performance Night

Echo Echo invite Derry to enter their world of dance and movement

The 10-strong ensemble from local company, Echo Echo Dance are offering a performance night filled with short dance and physical theatre performances on Tuesday 25th October for Derry audiences to experience their world of movement.

The performance night is called Inter-Session- a cross between the company's previously successful 'Interactions' performance evenings and the monthly open platform of Sunday Sessions.

This night is a collection of original dance pieces created and performed by members of the growing Echo Echo dance ensemble alongside a showing of Artistic Director Steve Batts solo which he performed earlier this year at Dublin Dance Festival.

Audiences- new and existing- are invited to come to Echo Echo's new home and studio on Bishop Street and see what happens when a dancer is given collaborators, time and space to explore and experiment, with the instruction to create exactly what they want.

Echo Echo is considered to be Northern Ireland's leading contemporary dance company, and after several successful Interactions performance evenings in 2010 and 2011, the company hopes that it can continue to attract new audiences to dance.

Artistic Director of Echo Echo, Steve Batts said:

"You will be drawn into the individual creative worlds of each member of Echo Echo and see how they meet and move together. The performances will include solos, duets and group pieces- some serious, some wacky - but I have encouraged everyone to take risks and let their imaginations fly."

Inter-Session is part of the company's Into Contact audience development project which is funded by Legacy Trust UK's Connections programme. The programme has been set up to help build a cultural and sporting legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Connections programme is managed by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Gilly Campbell, Drama and Dance Officer, Arts Council of Northern Ireland said:

"Echo Echo performances always deliver originality and the opportunity to experience the best in contemporary dance. It promises to be a unique and entertaining event that will allow audiences to sample the artform in an accessible way."

Inter-Session will be performed on Tuesday 25th October at 8pm in The Echo Echo Dance Studio at 13 Bishop Street (beside Hendersons Music). Entry is £5 and includes a barefoot disco afterwards.
