Derry-Londonderry was recently announced as the first UK City of Culture. Derry beat off stern competition from nearly 30 other cities to gain the award that will see a major programme of arts and cultural events and projects in the city during 2013. The award could bring significant social, tourism and economic benefits that have the potential to transform the city and region for years to come.
